John Quilter

John Quilter has lived in Midhurst for 20 years and has been a member of Midhurst Town Council since December 2006.  He is a Chartered Chemical Engineer and retired from his role as sales and marketing director of a British engineering company in 2011 having spent most of his working life in similar roles, including a few years living and working in Brussels for a large Swedish multinational engineering company.  John was elected vice chair of the council during 2007.  Previously he was vice chair of the Finance and Policy Committee.  John chairs the Midhurst Community Partnership, represents the council on the Midhurst Town Team, which he founded and previously chaired, is a council nominated trustee of Rother Valley Together and is currently helping to launch Midhurst Dementia Action Alliance which has the objective of making Midhurst a dementia friendly town. He is interested in helping to keep a vibrant local town centre economy, in improving the infrastructure of the town to its residents benefit and in providing help and assistance to the vulnerable older residents of the town to help prevent isolation and loneliness by providing some of the resources that would otherwise have been lost by county council cutbacks.
