Damaged Bridge – Update

West Sussex County Council’s contractor Balfour Beatty have now been able to source a temporary concrete barrier in front of the damaged part of the parapet in order to reopen the bridge as soon as possible.  The team on site are now prepping for the installation of 4-way lights at the mini roundabout and across the bridge, these should hopefully be in place by 15:00 this afternoon.

The Bridge will be closed again tonight from 21:00 for a few hours so that the concrete barrier can be changed for a more permanent one.

The Town Council fully appreciate the inconvenience caused by the damage to the bridge, and is doing all it can within it’s limited scope to support the County Council and its contractor to ensure the town remains open and accessible.
