Midhurst Town Council is recruiting for a Town Clerk/Responsible Finance Officer.
We’re looking for someone who’s enthusiastic about delivering quality services for the community. Midhurst has a population of c5,500 residents and the town is the hub for many neighbouring villages. The Council currently own:
· The Old Library – our offices and a community space which is available for hire
· The Recreation Ground – with both children’s play area, adult gym equipment and a brand-new state of the art skatepark
· The Cemetery and Lodge – nestled in a woodland setting our large cemetery also has a lodge which is a domestic dwelling
With several projects ongoing and plenty planned we are a busy and dynamic council. The Town Clerk has overall responsibility for managing our team of three Staff, the Assets and Operations of the town council and its facilities. As the ‘Proper Officer’ of the council, the Clerk has responsibility for its financial and administrative affairs, including the custody of council documents and records.
Candidates must have proven experience in administration, a good understanding of local government and strong people, communication and IT skills.
You’ll ideally hold the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) or be willing to work towards it.
You must be a good team player who is able to work both as part of a team and independently and be able to manage a diverse schedule of work.
In addition to public holidays, 21 days holiday per year (pro rata), increasing after five years’ service; two further statutory days. We also offer enrolment into a workplace pension scheme.
