Thank you to all of your wonderful entries to our Bug Hotel Competition – it was a pleasure seeing all of your wonderful creations!
Here are a few of our favourites that we received from families.
Midhurst Town Council invite families to make a Bug Hotel this half term and then send us your pictures! The best 3 entries will be put in the Midhurst Matters magazine and win a voucher for Wizzbits Toys!
Bug hotels can be made with repurposed and recycled items and shouldn’t cost much to put together. You can use straws and sticks which will attract beetles, centipedes, spiders and woodlice, dry leaves for ladybirds, stones and tiles for attract frogs and newts and bamboo canes for bees! Dried fruit and pine cones can add interest too!
If you paint your bug hotel bright colours it will attract bugs and insects!
There is lots of inspiration available online, but to start with you could use an old baked bean tin filled with bamboo canes, or a re-purposed bird box!
